Surf Shop and Surf Hire Open Everyday from 9am – LESSONS AVAILABLE EVERYDAY!
After what feels like the longest winter ever, the team at Quiksilver Surf School are now emerging out of hibernation to take on another fun filled season! We are lucky enough to have some familiar faces returning to the team after their winter travels, along with some wonderful new additions.
Now, our team is pretty big and we’re not trying to write a novel … so here are just a few names to mention to get us started.
Firstly, we have Joe who is our Head Coach. Joe came to us after doing his ‘ISA Surf Coach’ course in 2019 and in need of completing his 20 shadow hours to achieve the qualification. As soon as we met Joe we knew he was a perfect fit to the Quiksilver family. Lets just say, Joe finished his shadow hours and then he never left. A bubbly, enthusiastic and incredibly talented surf coach, our Joe really is part of the furniture.
* Favourite surf board: 6’0 foamie
* Favourite surf location: South Fistral with the boyz
* Best coaching tip: Look up with your eyes and your chest
Secondly we have the Irish-Kiwi, Eoin. Now, if you are struggling with the pronunciation of Eoin’s name, ‘E’ will do just fine. E returns to Quiksilver for his second season with us as a full-time Instructor. If you need to be jealous of any member of the team, it should be definitely be E. His winter conisited of visiting France, Spain, Italy, Tenerife and Ireland. E is a chilled, kind and ‘dad joke’ making machine. He has been welcomed back with open arms but his ‘dad jokes’ haven’t … they can stay abroad.
* Favourite surf board: Anything over 9’0
* Favourite surf location: Coolangatta, Australia
* Best coaching tip: Know your customers needs
Thirdy, we have Jack. If you’ve met Jack, you’d know a paragraph is not nearly enough to summarise him. A bit like E, Jack has returned for his second season here at Quiksilver and we really couldn’t be happier. Whether it’s his fluorescent blonde locks, the sun bleached eyebrows (that disappear more and with more each day), his sense of humour or his fantastic coaching ability … we guarantee your surf lesson with Jack will definitely be memorable.
* Favourite surf board: Middy twin
* Favourite surf location: Kaikoura, New Zealand
* Best coaching tip: Stand up!
Last year the lovely Lisa helped us out on a part-time basis over the summer holidays. This year we are fortunate enough to have her as a full-time member of the team. Lisa has been a surf coach on and off for the last 20+ years, so when we say she knows what shes doing, we mean it. Apart from all waterbased sports, Lisa loves cake, her cat Dobby, the gym and getting up very very early!
* Favourite surf board: 7’6 Softech (but in only in lilac)
* Favourite surf location: South Fistral
* Best coaching tip: Bend your knees, keep your bum in!
Last but certainly not least, we have Jim. The thing about Quiksilver is once your in, it’s very hard to leave and so the wonderful Jim is back for his fourth season with us. You know that person that is just good at everything, yeah well that’s Jim. Singing, yes. Music, yes (he was in a band!), Surfing, yes. Funny, yes. Incredibly clever, yes. Apart from being insanely talented, Jim is an all round nice guy and the best company. If you ever need a pub quiz team member, Jim is your man.
